Ume Mizunoe - 水之江梅

First-year student in Class 2 of the Fujinari Academy High School division. Student council secretary. Member of the Handicrafts Club. An academic standout with exceptional grades in liberal arts subjects and a track record of winning literary awards. Conversely, his performance in science and math subjects is abysmal—even recording single-digit test scores—putting him at risk of failing to advance to the next grade. As a result, his homeroom teacher, [Satomi Hiratsuka](https://anilist.co/character/341617/Satomi-Hiratsuka) (Biology), warned him that his grades would negatively impact his academic record and suggested he join the student council. He acts as the "straight man" (tsukkomi) of the group; he is the voice of reason who calmly resolves comedic situations that would otherwise spiral out of control—situations that the [President](https://anilist.co/character/341619/Hisako-Kotobuki) would simply let slide or that [Arisu](https://anilist.co/character/341618/Arisu-Terui) would resolve with physical force. Thanks to his helpful nature and pleasant personality, he becomes well-liked by people both within and outside the student council. He tends to reveal a "troublesome otaku" side of himself when the topic turns to literature, though such moments became less frequent as he was swept along by the eccentric personalities around him.
